Due to a stubborn cold I've barely left the house in the past week, during which time I've re-watched Doctor Who, early Gilmore Girls, gotten myself completely hooked to Californication and started watching Rescue Me (and this time it's chronological).

The most shocking thing, however, was that I opened Photoshop and finished something bigger than 40k.

Apologies for the fact that it's... <lj:music>Morrissey - Seasick, Yet Still Docked</lj:music>

Some days I feel like there is someone at the BBC who's work simply is "WELL. What will make Linnéa jump up and down today?". Last month it was this (James Marsters and John Barrowman, I MEAN REALLY). And yesterday I stumbled over David Tennant singing and dancing to The Boy With the Thorn In His Side. That said, does anyone have any slightly less-than-legal means of acquiring Blackpool? Because I'm musical cop show? I'm there.

    <lj:music>Koto - Mind Machine</lj:music>

All right then, Deathly Hallows is apparently being delivered to my home as I write this (though, as I write this late a friday evening, it is more likely being kept in a dusty warehouse until the weekend is over). Thus, final predictions.

Harry's a goner. I keep going back and forth on this, the possibilities of resurrection and second chances (I even had this long essay planned out, where I compared Harry Potter to The Last Temptation of Christ but I decided that my geekiness actually had its limits), but in the end this is a children's book and neither can live while the other survives. And no one comes back from the dead. Come on. I'm sort of hoping for Voldemort and Harry to step through the veil, or both face death willingly, because I'm cheesy like that. Otherwise, I'm not sure. The elfs will be freed, because you really can't press the slavery analogy for this long without releasing them. Hermione will have a brief flirtation with her darker sides, with devastating outcome. She's had this bad, manipulative side brewing in the past couple of books, and I'm thinking her overly confident side will lead to sacrifice by someone she considers to be 'below' her, possibly Neville or Lavender, and thus making her older and wiser. I do think that both she and Ron (the latter barely, considering his track record) will survive, leaving the trio as a duo. Little or no action will take place at Hogwarts, since the Death Eaters intrusion there in HBP pretty much closed it down (right? I'm not sure, it may still be open, but hardly anyone will attend). The home at Privet Drive will be demolished. Some Mugglenet editorial suggested Harry would return after his 17th birthday to find it that way, which I think would be cool. Snape ought to be pretty high on the death lists of both the Death Eaters and the order by now, right? I see Draco being in pretty much the same situation, so I imagine the two of them hanging out and being broody until the final battle (or possibly X battles before that), where I expect to Snape to in some shape or form sacrifice himself for Harry (/any other good kid), thus proving his quasi-innocence a little too late. I did expect him to be playing both sides up until HBP, but after the killing of Dumbledore he pretty much needs to be on either side, and since I prefer him angst-ridden and complex I chose good. He's still going to die, though. As is Hagrid (maybe Ron and Hermione can adopt Fang?). And Percy will see the wrong in his actions, and more or less sacrifice himself (possibly for his family) too. I won't go in to horcruxes or any of that, because... I haven't got a clue.

I'm so fucking morbid I can't believe it, but seriously, I can't wait to see who kicks it. I've never really been that in to the Potter fandom (and its cheesefest fan fiction) and thus have little or no connection to the secondary characters anymore. I feel much more interested in reading the final wrap-up, because after all this books have entertained me and had me stay up reading to the early hours for many years now and I have also developed quite the J.K Rowling girlcrush (rather than the more standard Harry one), and, fuckit, I respect that bitch in ways I thought my pretentious ass would never do. It's been a great ride and blah blah blah. It will be awesome.
